Information

Course Duration: 2.5 days

The new US food legislation (FSMA: Food Safety Modernization Act) affects all businesses exporting food to the US.

According to the legislation, all food businesses exporting to the US, as well as businesses operating in the US, must have at least one approved PCQI (Preventive Control Qualified Individual), whose main responsibility will be to develop, formulate and upgrade a food safety business plan/system (Food Safety Plan) based on the requirements of US food legislation and must have oversight of the implementation of the plan and of the communication with the importer(s) in America.

The FSMA rule for good manufacturing practice, hazard analysis and risk-based preventive measures for food and humans (referred to as preventive food controls) aims to ensure the safe preparation, processing, packaging and holding of food for human consumption.

The specified way in which interested parties can be approved as PCQIs is to attend a training program based on FDA-approved material, which is conducted by an approved lead trainer.

Notes:

Good knowledge of English is necessary to attend the training program

This training program is not a food law or export program in the United States
Requirement for successful completion of the program with full attendance without absences
Prior knowledge of Food Safety Management Systems and/or Food Technology is desirable but not necessary

Participants will obtain a PCQI certificate issued by the competent American authorities (FSPCA).
