EN 16636 is a specialized, certifiable European standard created by the Confederation of European Pest Management Associations (CEPA) in collaboration with the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and was first published in March 2015.
It specifies the requirements and procedures to be met in the context of the provision of pest control services and can be easily combined with other management systems, such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001.
In 2008, the World Health Organization reported that in the last 60 years there had been significant changes in ecology, climate and human behavior, changes that favored the development of pests in the urban environment.
The presence of arthropods, rodents, other vertebrates and microorganisms in the vicinity of humans constitutes a significant public health risk.
This risk arises from the possibility that pests may act as physical and mechanical vectors for the introduction and spread of pathogens, diseases and potential allergens to human and animal populations, while at the same time, they can cause direct and indirect damage to structures and their contents, resulting in significant economic losses for both businesses and households.
In addition, they can potentially cause a deterioration in the quality of life, as well as have psychological effects.
Due to the need to address these issues, the activities of disinfestation and control of insects, rodents, other vertebrates and microorganisms have developed as a service and are collectively referred to as the Pest Management Industry, as defined in code NACE 8129A.

The company interested in being certified according to EN 16636 contacts BQC and, after being informed by a responsible person, completes and sends the certification application by email to info@bqc.gr or by fax to +302112213726.
After signing the contract, the inspector who will carry out the inspection is appointed, which is carried out by visit on site.
Following a successful inspection, a certificate of conformity is issued which has a three-year duration and is supported by an annual surveillance inspection, 18 – 24 months after the completion of the first certification inspection.
After 3 years, the certificate is reissued following a recertification inspection.
